Grants Given by DSF
The Diplomatic Security Foundation is pleased to demonstrate how your contributions have helped support those in the Diplomatic Security worldwide family during times of need. DSF grants are unrestricted gifts, requiring no re-payment. Anyone from the extended global DS “family” may be considered for a donation, per review by the DSF Board of Directors, which is composed of active, retired and former DS personnel.

$250 towards expenses incurred for a funeral for the young son of a guard at the US Embassy Djibouti.

$1,000 to the educational fund for the son of an Arlington County Police Officer (formerly a desk officer in DS’s Office of Overseas Protective Operations) who recently passed away after a long battle with cancer.

·         $2,000 ($1,000/each) to the surviving families of two Mexico State Police Officers assigned to the Monterrey Consul General protective detail. The officers were shot and killed while heading home after work by an unknown assailant.

·         $7,500 to a DS Special Agent to cover uninsured medical expenses for the treatment of his young son, who suffers from a rare birth defect.

·         $6,000 to a DS Special Agent to cover uninsured costs due to an extended illness.

·         $12,500 in scholarship awards to five high school senior for college expenses, recipients of the 2011 DSF Scholarship Program (each winner received $2,500).

·         $2,000 to two members of Local Guard Force at the U.S. Embassy Buenos Aires who suffered a catastrophic house fire.

·         $5,000 for the surviving family of the Ambassador’s security driver at US Embassy Manila, who died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

·         $500 for the surviving family of a LGF (Local Guard Force) Coordinator at Embassy Bangkok who recently passed away due to a blood clot in the lung.

·         $1,800 sponsorship (3 teams from DS) of the National Police Challenge 50K Relay which takes place during Police Week and benefits the survivor of officers who have died in the line of duty.

·         $5,000 to offset medical expenses associated with an organ transplant for a family member of two former DS Special Agents.

·         $2,000 to the family of a Baghdad Local Police Officer who was shot and killed while serving as Personal Protective Specialist for US Embassy Baghdad.

·         $1,000 to a Local Guard Force officer at the US Embassy Honduras, to assist with costs associated with his wife’s terminal cancer.

·         $2,000 to the surviving family of a Local Guard Watchman serving at the US Consulate Surabaya, who died unexpectedly.

·         $950 to date in memorial/bereavement donations to date to the following organizations: American Diabetes Association, Rosa Clark Clinic, Critter Adoption & Rescue Effort, Wounded Warriors Project, Kids R First, Pace Academy, Amaus Medical Services at Cathedral, National Association of Congregational Christian Churches, St Christopher Episcopal Church, American Cancer Society, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Conoochee Baptist Church, Make-A-Wish, Officer Michael G. $5,000 to offset ongoing medical expenses for an employee of the US Embassy Warsaw who has terminal cancer.

$5,000 to the surviving family of a Foreign Service National Investigator serving Embassy Baku, Azerbaijan, who died unexpectedly.

$500 to the family of a South African police officer who was killed in the line of duty. The officer had recently assisted DS in protecting the US soccer team during the 2010 World Cup.

$5,000 in scholarship awards to two high school senior for college expenses, winners of the 2010 DSF Scholarship Program (each winner received $2,500).

$2,000 to offset ongoing medical expenses for an employee of the Consulate Bermuda who has cancer.

$4,867 to the families of Government of Pakistan security personnel who were killed or injured during a terrorist attack of the U.S. Consulate Peshawar on April 5, 2010

$10,000 to support earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

$2,000 to offset medical costs for a local guard at US Embassy Chisinau, Moldova.

$1,200 sponsorship (2 teams from DS) of the National Police Challenge 50K Relay which takes place during Police Week and benefits the survivor of officers who have died in the line of duty.

$5,000 to offset ongoing medical expenses for a local guard, at the Embassy Santiago, who has terminal cancer.

$5,000 to the educational fund for the daughter of a DSS Special Agent who recently passed away after a long battle with cancer.

$500 in memorial/bereavement donations to date to the following organizations: American Cancer Society; Wizards Care Charities; Burlington United Methodist Church; Shriners Hospitals for Children; Alzheimer's Association; Medina County Park District, Catholic Charities – Diocese of Arlington, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. Matthias Church.


DSF Donations in 2009 : $41,000

$2,500 to assist with medical expenses for the family of a Pakistani police officer assigned to support the Regional Security Office in Islamabad, Pakistan.

$500 to assist with medical costs for a local guard injured in an explosion in front of Embassy Kabul.

$1,500 to the surviving family of a Macedonian Protective Security Officer with the Embassy Skopje, killed in traffic accident while providing protective services to the US Ambassador at an official event.

$1,000 to support medical treatment for a local guard at US Consulate Quebec City.

$5,000 to the surviving family of a Master Sergeant who was killed in action in Afghanistan in July 2009. He served two recent tours as Marine Security Guard Detachment Commander in the MSG Program.

$3,000 to the surviving family of local guard who was shot and killed while on duty at Embassy Guatemala.

$5,000 to assist with medical expenses for the family of a local guard assigned to support the Regional Security Office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

$3,000 to the surviving family of a local guard at the Embassy Abuja who was killed during an intrusion of the embassy compound.

$5,000 to support medical treatment for the wife of a Foreign Service National Investigator in the Regional Security Office in Moscow.

$1,200 sponsorship (2 teams from DS) of the National Police Challenge 50K Relay which takes place during Police Week and benefits the survivor of officers who have died in the line of duty.

$6,000 to defray family living expenses for an Embassy Beirut bodyguard who sustained extensive injuries in an automobile accident that has resulted in the need for lengthy rehabilitation prior to his being able to return to work.

$1,500 to the surviving family of a member of the Consulate Peshawar guard force who was the victim of a rocket attack at his home that also killed three of his children and critically injured his wife and two other children.

$800 in memorial/bereavement donations to date.
DSF Donations in 2008: $89,650


$1,000 to the surviving family members of a Macedonian police officer killed in line of duty whose unit provides security support to the U.S. Embassy in Skopje.

$500 to the Angel Fund in memory of the deceased son of a London Police officer who guards the U.S. Embassy in London.

$5,000 to the educational fund for the sons of a deceased Egyptian employee who had worked at the Regional Security Office in Embassy Cairo for over 18 years.

$5,000 to the educational fund for the son of a deceased Foreign Service National Investigator in the Regional Security Office in Mumbai, India.

$1,000 to support the cancer treatment for the son of a contract employee of the DS Criminal Investigations Division.

$10,600 to four Nigerian guards/police injured safeguarding the Consulate Lagos community.

$4,000 to the family of a local guard in Cambodia who recently died from Leukemia.

$5,000 to the family of a Triple Canopy contractor who died in a vehicle accident while providing protective security services to DS.

$2,500 scholarship award to high school senior for college expenses.

$5,000 to the surviving family members of a Seabee assigned to the Naval Support Unit who was
killed in a motorcycle accident.

$15,000 to the surviving families of three Turkish police officers killed during a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Istanbul.

$3,000 to two Turkish police guards injured during a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Istanbul.

$5,000 to support the medical treatment for the son of a Bolivian National Police officer who has
been assigned to the embassy in Bolivia for the last 10 years.

$5,000 to a former DS Special Agent and current contract Special Investigator whose husband was killed in the line of duty as an Officer-Paramedic for the Arizona Dept of Public Safety.

$8,000 to cover uninsured medical expenses for a DS Special Agent undergoing cancer treatment.

$7,000 to assist a DS Special Agent with expenses related to her battle with cancer.

$5,000 to a scholarship fund for the son of a DS Special Agent killed in Iraq. Funds were donated by his colleagues and friends at the American Embassy in Baghdad.

$550 in memorial/bereavement donations to date.
