DSF Holiday Giving Program
2011 End-of-Year Donations

December 2011

Dear Friends of DSF,
As we enter the holiday season, and as our attention turns towards remembering our friends, our families and those in need, we hope that you will consider including the Diplomatic Security Foundation (DSF) in your gift giving this year.

Have You Made a Gift to DSF in 2011?

If you have, thank you! If not yet, please consider this: DSF provides immediate and focused financial assistance to members of DSS and colleagues in the law enforcement & foreign affairs communities. In many instances, DSF is uniquely poised to help where other worthy charitable organizations are not. Thanks to the generous support of our many donors, in 2011 DSF has provided almost $50,000 in financial assistance to those in the DS worldwide "family" coping with difficult and often tragic situations. A few of these grants include:
  • $7,500 to a DS Special Agent to cover uninsured medical expenses for his young son who suffers from a rare birth defect.
  • $5,000 for the surviving family of the Ambassador's security driver at the US Embassy Manila, who died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
  • $2,000 to the family of a local police officer who was shot and killed while serving as a Personal Protective Specialist for US Embassy Baghdad.
These are just a few of the grants that DSF has given out this year. A complete list is available on the DSF website: www.dsfoundation.org/assistancegiftsIn order to carry on our mission, we must continue to raise the funds needed to do so. Here's where you can help. Gifts received during the final months of the year make up the majority of individual donations we receive each year. We ask that you please consider including DSF in your charitable giving this year. It is with your on-going support that we will succeed in our mission.

Help us help those around the globe who keep American diplomacy safe.

Sincerely,
Walt Deering
President, Diplomatic Security Foundation
