Are you interested in serving on the Board of the Diplomatic Security Foundation (DSF)? An election will be held this October (2018) for four open board positions. DSF Board members are responsible for upholding the mission of DSF which is to provide timely financial support and charitable contributions to members, and their immediate family, of the US Department of State's Bureau of Diplomatic Security and colleagues in the law enforcement and US foreign affairs community.

Key Points:

  • Board members must be a current, former, or retired DS employee. DSF Officers – President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer - may not be a current direct hire DS employee.

  • Board members review requests for assistance, manage the scholarship program and oversee the general management and operations of the Foundation.

  • The time commitment for board members varies. President: 2-3 hour/wk; VP, Secretary, Treasurer: 1-2 hours/wk; Members-At-Large: 2-3 hours/month. DSF business is conducted mostly via email except for attendance or participation at two board meetings/conference calls a year.

  • Board positions are voluntary and receive no compensation.

  • All DSF Board members are required to be dues paying members of our partner organization, the Diplomatic Security Special Agents Association (DSSAA*).

  • No board member may serve more than two consecutive terms on the Board, without at least a one-full-calendar-year break in service on the Board. If re-elected to the DSF Board after the specified break in service, the two consecutive four-year terms clock restarts.

  • Current board members with expiring first terms may stand for another position on the board but may not be re-nominated for the same position (except for Members-At-Large positions).

  • DSF holds elections every two years. Those elected will serve a four-year term from December 2018-December 2022. The next election will be held Fall 2020, term ending 2024.
