The Diplomatic Security Foundation (DSF) provides rapid financial assistance during times of hardship or crisis, as well as educational support, to members of the global Diplomatic Security community. Since its founding, DSF has awarded more than $1.7 million in grants and scholarships, with much of that support directed to local guard forces at U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide. Grant requests are typically vetted and submitted by Regional Security Officers, ensuring that each case is credible and urgent. In addition to aiding local guards, DSF also assists U.S.-based Diplomatic Security personnel facing personal emergencies.
What sets DSF apart is its ability to respond quickly and without bureaucratic delays. However, this flexibility comes with a challenge: DSF receives no financial support from Diplomatic Security or the State Department and relies entirely on the generosity of donors. The foundation’s work is sustained primarily through its annual charity golf outing—sponsored by major corporations and government contractors—and supplemented by individual contributions and donations through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).
